Last Monday (Aug. 13), Unshackle Upstate joined with landowners, farming, business, industry and construction trade groups in the launch of an ad campaign in support of safe shale gas development in New York. The campaign includes a series of newspaper advertisements and 60-second radio spots featuring local business leaders, farmers and service providers. See one of the campaign’s print ads here.
For too long, New Yorkers have watched other states safely develop their natural resources, creating jobs and economic activity while delivering clean energy. We are looking forward to New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation to finish its environmental review – now in its fourth year – soon.
Shale gas development will create jobs and generate millions in tax revenues for our schools and local governments. You can read more about shale gas development, and the types of jobs it will create Upstate, here.
Other groups supporting the campaign include the Associated General Contractors of New York, the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce the Business Council of New York State, Friends of Natural Gas NY, the Independent Oil & Gas Association of New York, the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York, Rebuild New York Now, Southern Tier Economic Growth, and the Farm Bureaus representing Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Schuyler, Sullivan, Steuben and Tioga counties.
