Gov. Cuomo will convene a “yogurt summit” in Albany on Wednesday (Aug. 15) to help the state’s dairy production keep up with the increasing demand for Greek yogurt, and to consider regulations and laws that could limit the ability of farmers to provide milk and manufacturers to make yogurt.

On Wednesday, we will be in Albany for the Business/Employer Issues working group, a sub-task force of the Chairman’s Committee.  This group is tasked with looking at regulatory issues that stifle private sector job growth.

On Thursday, the Senate’s Select Committee on State-Native American Relations holds a public hearing on exclusivity provisions in gaming compacts between New York State and various Native American Nations and Tribes, and will examine how such exclusivity provisions may be impacted by proposals to permit non-Native American owned commercialized casino gambling in the State.

Friday (Aug. 17) is the deadline for registering to vote in the Sept. 13, 2012 primary elections.

The New York State Energy Planning Board meets on Thursday, Aug. 23, at NYSERDA’s offices in Albany.  The draft State Energy Plan is due to be released by Sept. 1.

The 2012 Republican National Convention will take place in Tampa Bay, Florida from Aug. 27-30.  The 2012 Democratic National Convention will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina from Sept. 3 through 6.

The New York State Board of Regents holds its next meeting on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10 and 11.
