The state Civil Service Department has launched the New New York Leaders Student Intern Program, promoting paid and unpaid internships in state government. Over 400 such positions are currently available on the site.

The site is intended to be a one-stop website to allow students to view and apply for internship opportunities across state agencies throughout the state. Applicants can view job descriptions, create profiles, specify interests, and upload resumes, writing samples and letters of recommendation.

Gov. Cuomo said:

“The internship program is designed to attract and mentor a new generation of talented leaders for New York State. I’m encouraging the best and brightest young minds to apply, dedicate some time to public service and acquire valuable skills.”

This looks to be an excellent new tool that will help students who are interested in getting a taste of state work to be able to do so.
