On Wednesday, Gov. Cuomo announced the launch of a new, interactive “I Love New York” tourism campaign. As part of the effort, the general public can help remake the iconic “I Love NY” logo “by submitting personal sketches depicting what they love about New York State.”
The state also released six new television ads to promote tourism in the state.
According to the Governor’s office, direct spending by tourists in New York State in 2011 was $53.8 billion, and generated $6.9 billion in state and local taxes.
Tourism is obviously a key part of the Upstate economy. We hope that this effort will bring more visitors to the various parts of Upstate New York this summer.
