On Wednesday, State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli released his analysis of the 2012-13 enacted state budget. It notes that the enacted budget leaves projected budget gaps of $3.4 billion and $4.1 billion in future budget years.
The report begins with the statement that:
“New York is embarked on a new era of State and local fiscal policy. The State is working to resolve longstanding budgetary problems through ambitious policy changes, the full impacts of which will become clear only over time.”
Unshackle Upstate is pleased with the direction that New York State’s government has taken since January 2011. We understand that our economy did not erode overnight, and it will not be revived overnight. We still face many challenges, but we have at least begun moving in the right direction.
