Beginning next month, Broome Community College will be partnering with Broome-Tioga BOCES and Broome-Tioga Workforce New York to offer training for potential natural gas workers. The training will be conducted under the ShaleNET program, which was launched in 2010 with a $4.96 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor Community-Based Job training program.
Unshackle Upstate supports the safe and responsible development of the state’s natural gas resources. We are pleased that there is growing industry confidence that New York State will permit natural gas development using hydraulic fracturing, and also that New Yorkers will have the opportunity to be trained for jobs in what we hope will be a growing industry in the state.
The program is being conducted through the Broome-Tioga Workforce New York Center in Binghamton.
